Medical Video: Improving Fertility in Men with Poor Sperm Count | UCLA Urology

When he has been married for years but has not been blessed with children, the problem is not always because the woman is difficult to get pregnant. In many cases, it is actually a child who is infertile. Whether because of poor sperm quality, inadequate sperm count, or low sperm motility, it is difficult to reach the egg.

To overcome this, various types of fertility drugs are available for men. However, oBat fertility for men can only work to overcome certain types of fertility problems. While male infertility caused by other things usually cannot be handled by these drugs.

Male fertility drugs in the form of hormones

The main fertility drug used for men is an injectable hormone called gonadotropin. The two main forms are:

  • human menopausal gonadotrophin (hMG) which contains FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (lutenizing hormone)
  • human chrionic gonadotrophin (hCG)

Gonadotropin is used to treat men who do not produce sperm due to a condition called hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. This occurs when the testis does not receive a signal to make sperm. Hypogonadism is caused by the brain that fails to produce the appropriate hormone.

Gonadotropins encourage the testicles to produce testosterone and sperm directly, not through the brain. Pulsatile gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) or follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) can also be used.

Some men have a condition called retrograde ejaculation. This occurs when sperm is ejaculated into the bladder rather than the penis. This condition is often the result of diabetes, medication or post prostate surgery or urethral problems. Hormones will not be useful for this condition, but non-hormonal drugs, such as imipramine, can help.

Imipramine closes the bladder neck to resolve this problem. If medical treatment is not successful, stimulation of penile electrovirals and urine sperm retrieval can be an option.

Antibiotics are recommended as a male fertility treatment if the cause of infertility is an infection of the male reproductive organs, which prevents sperm from moving from the testicles as they should.
