Have you ever heard your stomach sound even if you don't feel hungry? Usually, a strong abdominal sound can be interpreted as hunger. Then, is it normal for the stomach to sound even if it's not hungry? What causes the stomach to ring?

Actual stomach sounds always occur at any time

What sounds do you hear from your stomach? What do you hear about the 'krucuk-krucuk' or another sound? Actually the sound that you hear is only one type of sound and this is normal for everyone. The stomach does not only sound when it feels hungry, but actually this sound is produced all the time and this is normal for everyone.

However, in some cases abdominal sounds may be one of the symptoms and signs of an illness. Inside the stomach there are various digestive systems that always work when there is or no food in it. There are two types of stomach-induced sounds, namely:

Hypoactive. Hypoactive abdominal sounds are sounds of the stomach that sound small or even almost inaudible if they do not use special tools. This sound is not heard because there is a decrease in activity in the digestive tract. This often happens when you are sleeping. If the gastrointestinal activity decreases, it indicates that you have constipation.

Hyperactive. Unlike hypoactive, hyperactive stomach sounds are clearly heard even if they do not use special tools such as stethoscopes. This usually occurs in a short time and is heard because there is an increase in gastrointestinal activity. If you hear a very loud stomach sound, it could be that you are experiencing diarrhea or this sound can also arise after a meal.

This gastrointestinal activity causes stomach sounds and is referred to as peristalsis. Peristaltic movement is an automatic movement carried out by the gastrointestinal tract in the body that aims to encourage food by doing squeeze movements so that food can be pushed to the next gastrointestinal tract.

This squeezing movement is done unconsciously and is directly regulated by the brain. Therefore, the movement is carried out continuously by the digestive tract, so that stomach sounds can be heard at any time.

Even though you are not hungry, what causes it?

When you smell something delicious and your stomach is empty, this will stimulate the brain to signal your intestine to produce a harder stomach sound. But if you are not hungry but you can hear stomach sounds, it could be a sign that there is a problem with your digestive system.
