Medical Video: KKY Baby Yoga

Time flies, one common word often mentioned by parents that I often meet. It didn't feel right now that my baby was almost 4 months old, and had started to lie on his stomach, laugh, and be more active in babbling with baby's language, especially when I just got up early.

What are the morning rituals that you always do when your baby gets up early and is very active? I usually start the morning with a morning bath that I start by massaging my baby's body before taking a shower. Since he was 3 months old, I also started to introduce some yoga movements that are suitable for babies. While interacting with the baby, the movements that I describe below also have benefits that are good for your body and your baby's health.

Expand your yoga mat and position your baby in front of you, cover it with a soft blanket or base so that your baby feels comfortable while lying down.

1. Wind Relieving Pose

This pose is good for releasing the "wind" from the baby's body. If your baby is not comfortable in the abdominal area, this movement can help circulation in the baby's stomach and help relieve the stomach.

Grab your baby's ankles aiming the ankle above the baby's stomach, the knee to the abdominal area from the soles of the feet or ankles. You can interact by calling "Inhale"When slowly pushing the foot into the abdominal area and calling "Exhale" when straightening your legs again. When you do this movement and call for breathing directions, make sure you breathe long to channel good energy to your baby. Repeat at least 3 times.

2. Exercise Arms

This pose is good for increasing baby's breathing and is also fun for babies.

Place your thumb on your baby's palm, let him hold it, then aim the baby's arms straight up parallel to the ear area. Then bring your arms down again. You can interact by calling "Inhale"When carrying your arms up and calling "Exhale" when straightening your hands down. When you do this movement and call for breathing directions, make sure you breathe long to channel good energy to your baby. Repeat at least 3 times.

3. Bicycle Legs

This pose can help stimulate the baby's digestive area, and is a fun way to bonding with your baby.

Hold your baby's left ankle with your right hand, and your baby's right ankle with your left hand, then bend your baby's right leg until the knee approaches the abdominal area, and straighten. Bend your baby's left leg until the knee approaches the abdomen, then straighten and repeat the right side, just like the bicycle pedaling. You can interact by calling "Inhale"Lunges and calls "Exhale" when straightening your legs down. When you do this movement and call for breathing directions, make sure you breathe long to channel good energy to your baby. Repeat 5 times each side.

4. Baby Twist

This pose is also a good way to help your baby relieve discomfort in the abdominal area.

Hold both of your baby's ankles with the palm of your right hand, then stretch your baby's left arm with the help of your left hand. Bend your baby's legs, then with the help of your fingers gently push your baby's knee to your right side, opposite the stretch of your baby's arms, so that the baby's back feels gentle twist. Do it for the other side. You can interact by calling "Inhale"When bending and calling "Exhale" when doing twist. When you do this movement and call for breathing directions, make sure you breathe long to channel good energy to your baby. Repeat 3 times each side.

You can start the above poses when your baby is at least 3 months old. At this age, he has begun to be able to interact with you, and has begun to enjoy active activities because he has started learning to hold his own neck and learn to lie on his back and on his own. Be sure to always do the movements safely and comfortably. Good luck!
