In a normal body, HDL is called good cholesterol and LDL, which is bad cholesterol. HDL is called good cholesterol because it is responsible for the fat scavenger in the blood vessels, so that the blood vessels from fat deposits, LDL do the opposite, therefore it is called bad cholesterol. But recently a study showed that autistic children turned out to have good fat levels that were lower than normal children.

A study conducted by the University of Alabama compared the levels of good fats or HDL in two groups of boys. One group consists of normal and healthy boys while the other group is boys who suffer from autism. Then HDL levels were seen from blood tests carried out in both groups. From the results of the blood tests it was found that fat levels in the group of boys with autism were lower than fat levels in the normal group of boys.

Not only that, it was found that there were differences in the levels of omega 3 fatty acids in both groups, where the group with autism had lower levels of omega 3 fatty acids. In fact, omega 3 fatty acids are very useful to help the development and growth of children and maintain a healthy nervous system.

Disorders of fat metabolism in children with autism
