1. Don't panic

To be able to remove insects from the ears, the main key is calm. Naturally, if your reaction is shocked because you feel a foreign object into your ear. Because insects usually cause a rattling or humming sound, and may be accompanied by tingling in the ear canal. However, make sure you stay calm and do not panic so as not to cause excessive movement that can cause insects to get deeper into the inner ear canal.

2. Do not insert fingers or other objects into the ear

Usually when the ear enters the insect, the person will reflexively try to pick up or take the insect by hand. However, to remove insects in the ears, never insert objects such as tweezers or cotton buds into the ears. The reason is, this will actually encourage insects to get in and can make the insect sting, so that it injures your ears or eardrum.

3. Tilt your head

When the ear enters an insect, immediately tilt the head opposite the ear side that the insect has in it. So, if the insect's left ear is inserted, then tilt the ear that the insect is facing up.

4. Give oil to the ear

Still in the condition of the head tilted, ear drops with warm water or oil that is not irritating, for example baby oil, mineral oil, or olive oil. After that, pull a little of your earlobe to remove air bubbles in the ear for a few seconds. However, make sure if you do not overdo it when inserting the liquid into the ear. The liquid that is inserted into the ear hole serves to kill incoming insects, so it will be easier to remove it.

5. Remove the insect from the ear

After that tilt the head on the opposite side (the ear that is inserted into the insect is positioned facing down) to drain the oil and water out of the ear. Then, pay close attention to the insects that come out of your ear canal. If it's not intact, repeat the previous steps until all the insect parts come out of the ear. After the insect comes out of the ear, don't forget, you have to do the cleaning process of the ear using warm water. This is important to prevent signs of bleeding and reduce the risk of infection in the ear.

If you still cannot remove the insect, you should not force it. If the condition worsens, for example, feeling pain in the ear, inflamed ears and even swelling, or even having difficulty hearing, get your ear to the nearest doctor immediately to get proper treatment.
