How do you usually start the day? Is it with a cup of hot coffee or a glass of warm tea? Comparison of the two types of drinks is indeed never spoiled for debate. Which drink is healthier, coffee or tea?

Benefits of tea for health

Analysis conducted by Lenore Arab found that tea drinkers had a lower risk of being exposed to heart problems and strokes. Tea is also known to improve brain health. This is supported by the Linus Pauling Institute which reveals both green tea and black tea, both of which can protect the body from heart disease, stroke and osteoporosis.

Another study of 1003 adults over 70 years old revealed that those who drank more than 2 cups of green tea a day had a lower risk of experiencing senility. The University of Maryland added that green tea helps the body control glucose in the blood and protect the liver from damage.

But research conducted by Hallberg revealed that combining tea with some snacks such as burgers and mashed potatoes can reduce 62 percent absorption of iron in the body, compared to only 35 percent.

Benefits of coffee for health

A study analyzing health data was collected from several studies successfully linking coffee consumption with a reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and Parkinson's disease. This study also included potentially disturbing factors, such as smoking, body mass index, physical activity, alcohol consumption, and other dietary factors.

Another study conducted by Fernandez-Elias to 12 athletes revealed that drinking coffee before practicing has the potential to burn 15 percent more calories than usual. Unfortunately, a previous study revealed that coffee consumption also has the potential to increase the cholesterol content in the body.

So, which is healthier, coffee or tea?

Rob van Dam, assistant professor of Harvard School of Public Health Department of Nutrition revealed, both tea and coffee, both of which contain many different substances. Research conducted by K. Tanaka revealed both coffee and black tea, both of which were able to reduce the risk of Parkinson's disease.

But actually, more research is still needed to support the efficacy of these two drinks for health. This is because some new research is only done on animals and references that have been too long.

A safe way to drink coffee and tea

The same thing that also needs to be considered from both is avoiding excessive sweeteners. The benefits for both health will certainly decrease with the presence of sweeteners with inappropriate doses. Even though drinking coffee is believed by some people to lose weight, the calories you receive will be the same if you add lots of sweeteners, right?

In addition, both coffee and tea are not recommended for consumption by pregnant women. This is because the consumption of coffee and tea has the potential to cause effects on the fetus. Both coffee and tea, both of which contain caffeine where coffee contains more caffeine (95-200 mg) than black tea (14-70 mg) and green tea (24-45 mg) with the same portion.

It's good not to consume caffeine for at least 6 hours before entering your bedtime to get a more optimal quality of sleep. It should be noted also that consumption of caffeine with excessive doses has the potential to cause anxiety, nausea and easy fatigue.
