Everyday clean the rash area with warm water. However, don't rub it. Use a clean, soft cloth that is suitable for sensitive baby skin. Avoid rubbing because it can make irritation worse and make itchy. After cleaning, make sure your baby's skin is completely dry.

Next, apply a rash relief ointment such as Aquaphor or petroleum jelly. This ointment can soothe irritated skin and become a barrier between baby's skin and saliva which may come out again.

When taking a bath, make sure you use a mildly scented or mild soap or shampoo for baby's skin.

Then, use a baby lotion that is soft and also does not contain perfume on the baby's skin that dries due to saliva. However, do not give lotion to the area that has become a rash due to saliva. For skin that has already appeared a rash, it is better to dry it gently after bathing, then apply Aquaphor ointment or petroleum jelly.

In addition to the two ointments, you can buy ointments in pharmacies that are more patent, namely hydrocortisone cream that can be purchased without a prescription. However, follow the rules of use properly. Or if you are in doubt, you should consult your doctor for how long to use and how much should be applied.

Most important when handling saliva rashes, make sure the area is always clean. Because, the rash will be more susceptible to infection if you get bacteria or germs.

Make sure not to use detergent containing fragrances for baby clothes, bed sheets, and other baby cloth equipment as long as the baby has a rash.
