Why is the sound bindeng during a cold? For those of you who are having a cold, usually at the end of the runny nose the sound will turn into bindeng or nasal. Actually the bindeng sound is not only obtained when the cold only, but when going to a rather high plain or even on a plane we will experience the sound of bindeng. But, because the sound of bindeng is more commonly felt when a cold, let's look at the causes of bindeng and other explanations below.

What is Bindeng?

Bindeng or nasal sounds are usually caused due to flu or cold. Bindeng can also be said to be a hum on the ear, because there is something that blocks the nasal cavity and the throat which affects the sound. Because the air circulation is blocked between the two senses, there is a bindeng sound.

How can a bindeng sound occur during a cold?

In each human ear, there is an eustachian canal that is associated with the nasal and throat channels. The function of the eustachian tube is to keep the air pressure inside and outside the ear to be more balanced. Well, the sound of a cold due to a cold occurs because the outside air is lower in pressure, than inside. That way, the air from the body will press out, but it comes out through the ear.

If the condition is like that, the eustachian tube will try to balance the pressure inside and outside the ear, and will make empty space on the channel. The function of the empty channel, namely so that the other body systems remain balanced function (so as not to faint suddenly).

Then where did the sound of Bindeng come from? As explained earlier, the bindeng sound will come from an empty space in the ear, the eustachian tube will hold the balance of the throat and nose too. Not infrequently the sound of bindeng becomes strange or nasal if we talk or sing during a cold.

There are two types of bindeng sounds that have different causes

It was explained at the outset, if bindeng occurs not only because of colds, but it can be from various other health conditions and situations. Well, the bindeng voice can be separated into two different types and causes:

  1. Bindeng is hyper or occlusa: Bindeng is a normal bindeng and can heal by itself. The causes include colds, allergies, high altitude, sinusitis, or other blockages (eg polyps or tumors).
  2. Bindeng hipo or aperta: Bindeng is caused due to permanent damage (congenital birth can also be). Anotomic paralysis or damage to the nose and mouth organs also affects the occurrence of bindeng aperta.

How to relieve bindeng's voice during a cold?

Here are a number of ways to treat lightheaded sounds from colds that you can try:

  • Remove your snot. Bindeng is caused by something that blocks the nasal passages. Use a clean cloth, tisue or handkerchief. Do it in the toilet or bathroom. Avoid getting runny nose near the baby.
  • Take medicine for cough with phlegm. Usually the phlegm which attaches to the throat causes the duct in the throat to become blocked, causing the sound to become bindeng.
  • Drink decongestants. Decongestant drugs work by reducing the swelling of the mucous membranes, although the effect may not be too fast. You can also breathe eucalyptus oil or any oil that smells of menthol to get rid of mucus in the nose which has an impact on the voice's sound.
