You can also compress the nose with ice wrapped in a towel.

If the nosebleed doesn't subside, immediately check with your doctor to find out the exact cause. Nosebleeds accompanied by black bowel movements can indicate certain diseases, such as liver disease, kidney disorders, or hemophilia which need to be addressed immediately.
