Methylprednisolone is a drug used to treat various conditions related to inflammation such as rheumatism, severe allergic reactions, sore throat, to several types of cancer. Along with the effects of the drugs needed, methylprednisolone can cause some unwanted side effects. Although not all side effects will occur, if one of the side effects of methylprednisolone settles or becomes more troubling after you consume it, consult your doctor for more information.
Characteristics and symptoms of methylprednisolone side effects
Seek medical attention immediately if you experience an allergic reaction after taking medication, such as hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Some side effects of methylprednisolone that can occur may not need immediate medical attention. As your body adjusts to the drug, side effects may disappear on their own. Your doctor may also be able to tell you how to reduce or prevent some of the side effects of methylprednisolone.
Non-serious side effects of methylprednisolone usually include:
- Sleep difficulties (insomnia), mood changes
- Acne, dry skin, thinning skin, bruising, and discoloration of the skin
- Wounds that don't heal
- Sweat production increases
- Headache, dizziness, the room was spinning
- Nausea, abdominal pain, bloating
- Changes in the shape and location of body fat (especially in the arms, legs, neck, face, breasts, and waist)
- Thinning hair at the top of the head; dry scalp
- Blushing face
- Reddish purple lines on the arms, face, legs, thighs, or groin
- Increased appetite
Stop treatment immediately and contact a doctor if you experience more serious methylprednisolone side effects, such as:
- Aggression
- Agitation (restless and restless)
- Worry
- Blurred vision
- Decreasing the amount of urine
- Dizzy
- Irregular heartbeat / rhythm; fast or slow down
- Easy to get angry
- Depression
- Short, noisy breath; sounds
- Numbness or tingling in the arms or legs
- The ear feels pounding
- Hard to breathe
- Swelling in the fingers, hands, feet or calves
- Difficulty thinking, talking or walking
- Difficulty breathing while resting
- Weight gain
- Bloody or black stool, bleeding cough
- Pancreatitis (unbearable pain in the upper abdomen and spreads to the back, nausea and vomiting, rapid heartbeat)
- Low potassium (confusion, irregular heartbeat, severe thirst, frequent urination, uncomfortable legs, weak muscles and feeling paralyzed)
- Very high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing ears, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, convulsions)
