Montessori is an educational method developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. He graduated from medical school in 1869 and became one of the first female doctors in Italy.
His work as a doctor brought him together with children, since then Dr. Montessori began to be interested in the world of education and developed this method as a result of his research on the intellectual development of mentally retarded children.
The characteristics of the method of montessori education are the emphasis on self-direction activities in children, and clinical observations from teachers who function as facilitators or assistants. This method also emphasizes the importance of adjusting from the learning environment to the level of child development and the role of physical activity in absorbing academic subjects and practical skills directly.
Not only that, this method also uses equipment auto correction to help children learn well. The use of these equipment is intended so that the child understands the right or wrong questions about the actions that have been done, so that the child can correct himself. What is the difference between the montessori method and other educational methods?
Basically, the montessory education method is almost similar to the regular system, because it still involves the role of students and teachers. However, in regular schools, all lessons are taught based on the curriculum, so that inevitably the children are "forced" to understand all the things taught.
