Pregnancy is something that is fun for prospective mothers. Various changes to the body occur and maybe something that makes you uncomfortable. In fact, body changes can occur since you are pregnant or during the first trimester of pregnancy. But, this is not a deduction from your happiness. Instead, these changes can make you happy if you enjoy them. Remember, soon your little one will be there to decorate your little family.

What are the changes that occur in the body during the first trimester?

Various changes to the body during pregnancy have begun to occur since the first trimester of pregnancy. These body changes may be different for each pregnant woman, but generally pregnant women will experience changes as follows.

1. The breast feels painful

Changes in your breasts can occur from the beginning of pregnancy. The breasts will feel softer, painful, and more sensitive. This is triggered by hormonal changes in the body to prepare yourself to produce milk. Breast size will begin to increase, the breast feels heavier and fuller. You might need to buy a new bra with a larger size than usual. This makes you more comfortable.

2. The size of the stomach starts to grow

Some pregnant women may notice that their stomachs are bigger during the first trimester of pregnancy. Meanwhile, other pregnant women may not have seen the bulge of their stomach until entering the second trimester. This is normal and is not a matter of concern.

3. Changes to the skin

Some pregnant women may look more radiant skin during pregnancy. This can occur because of hormonal changes during pregnancy and increased blood circulation under the skin. Pregnancy hormones can cause excessive oil production on your skin, making your skin more moist. However, this can also cause acne.

In addition, during pregnancy can also appear stretch marks on the skin. Often, stretch marks appears on the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and chest. Another skin change is a dark line on the skin that runs from the navel to the pubic hair, this is called linea nigra. Darker spots on the skin also usually appear on the cheeks, forehead, and nose. This is called melasma or chloasma and usually occurs in dark skinned women.

4. Veins appear

Changes also occur in blood vessels. This might happen because your blood volume increases and your heart pumps blood faster to meet the needs of pregnancy. Blue veins may be more visible in your growing belly, in your breasts, and in your legs. Spider blood vessels or spider veins can also appear on the legs, face or arms.

Enlarged veins can also be seen in the legs. This is called varicose veins. This enlarged blood vessel can be very visible and is purple or blue. This can occur because of pressure on the veins behind the uterus, so that blood from your legs or lower body will be slower to return to the heart.

5. Changes in the vagina

During pregnancy, your vagina also experiences various changes. Your vaginal lining can become thicker and less sensitive. You may also experience vaginal discharge and mild bleeding (such as blood spots). This is normal in pregnancy. Blood spots at the beginning of pregnancy may be a sign that the fertilized egg of the sperm has successfully stuck to the wall of your uterus.

However, if the bleeding is more severe, it hurts, and the stomach feels cramped, you should immediately go to a doctor. This can be a sign of miscarriage.

6. Changes in body weight

During the first trimester, your weight will increase and this is a must. Maybe your weight will increase by 1.5-3 kg in the first trimester. This increase adjusts to your body weight before becoming pregnant. Weight gain during pregnancy is a good thing. This can be a sign that your fetus is developing properly. But, remember not to overdo it or you will experience excess weight during pregnancy (this makes pregnancy more risky).
