Medical Video: Medical Conditions & Treatments : Symptoms of Pet Dander Allergies
Only about 10% of pet owners have allergies, but at least 30% of people with asthma are allergic to animals. If your child has asthma, consider whether your pet can produce allergens that trigger asthma symptoms in your child.
Your pet's fur may not be the cause that worsens your child's condition. Allergies are caused by the body's reaction to proteins found in debris from animal dead skin, saliva, urine and hair. Although animal hair itself is not a problem, proteins that attach to the feathers when an animal licks itself can become a trigger for asthma.
Animal fur can also be a nest of dust mites, pollen, fungi and other allergens. Animals that live in cages produce droplets that invite fungi and mites.
You may have heard that certain types of dogs and cats that do not produce flakes will not cause asthma. But all warm-blooded animals produce fragments of protein that cause allergic reactions.
Here are some tips that can reduce the effects of pets on asthma:
- Vacuum frequently. The vacuum can control dead skin cells and animal hair in the house.
- Practice good hair removal. Caring for pets and looking after homes and fur-free furniture can help.
- Try "liquid dosing" for cats. The aqueous dose of acepromazine tellah shows a reduction in protein in cat saliva which plays a role in many allergies. But the effectiveness of this method varies depending on the cat and the owner's allergies.
- Use shampoo and spray that neutralizes the dander. Dander contains small flakes of animal skin attached to the feathers. Proteins from animal saliva that attach to the dander are the true cause of an asthma attack. Some products promoting their products can neutralize dander.
- Limit pet access to the bedroom. The best way to prevent an asthma attack is to prevent allergens. Keeping pets outside your room or limited to certain rooms is a way to keep animals and keep an allergen-free area for you.
- Clean animal beds. Dust mites like to eat pet dander. Use protective dust mites and clean animal beds regularly.
Remember, even though you have given your pet to other people because it often triggers an asthma attack, your condition may not immediately improve. It can take up to 6 months to reduce the level of allergens in the home without pets. Although pets have been removed, your child still needs asthma or allergic drugs that were used previously.
When visiting a home with a pet, your child should take allergy medications and always take medication that immediately relieves asthma.
