Gallstone also causes heartburn, but the location is more focused on the right upper abdomen that radiates to the waist, back, sometimes even to the shoulders. Pain in gallstones also usually lasts a long time - can last for hours - and does not improve after taking antacids or other ulcer drugs.
2. Different symptoms trigger
Heartburn and symptoms of gallstones can both occur after eating. However, the symptoms of gallstones are usually burdensome after eating fatty foods such as fried foods, coconut milk, and so on. Whereas in heartburn, any food, whether fatty or not, will still stimulate stomach acid production and cause pain.
Consumption of antibiotics, NSAID pain medications, and corticosteroids can also trigger heartburn. But these drugs do not affect the appearance of gallstones.

Gallstones also usually cause abnormalities in the color of feces and urine. If you have gallstones, the color of the stool is usually paler while the color of the urine becomes dark yellow or thick like tea. Heartburn does not cause symptoms of discoloration in both.
