Medical Video: 5 Healthy Habits for Bloating & Belly Fat- MUST WATCH!
The causes of a large belly are very many, including habits that we realize or are not aware of. We all know that a distended stomach is not a good sign for the body. Keeping your body shape healthy and in accordance with the criteria is not an easy thing, it requires dedication, discipline, consistency, and strong endurance. But, many people end up justifying various ways not to do things they hate, such as controlling food. Here are some bad habits that are the cause of a distended stomach and are often done without realizing it.
The habit of causing a distended stomach
1. Eat late at night
While it's true that your body naturally burns a few fat deposits when you sleep, your body won't burn efficiently if you sleep on a full stomach. In addition to causing fat in the stomach, late eating and lying down after fullness can increase the risk of stomach acid reflux and digestive disorders. This happens because of changes in gravity, so the body is unable to pull food in the stomach down.
To prevent this condition, consider eating less food at night, and don't lie down for at least three hours after dinner. If possible, eat some fruits if you feel a little hungry at night, rather than eating sweet foods to satisfy your appetite.
2. Eat when sad, angry or upset
Have you ever found yourself eating unconsciously when your emotions were at their peak? The next time you become aware of this behavior, try to change your attitude before you end up eating fast food, such as burgers, fried rice, or instant noodles. Eating emotionally doesn't really matter if it can make you feel better, but if you always rely on eating every time you are stressed or angry, don't be surprised if your fat deposits increase.
The best way to combat the response to stress is to drink a glass of water, and talk to a friend or walk casually to calm down. Choose activities that don't involve eating, so you can stop yourself from having excess calories when you feel emotional.
3. Not sleeping enough
Ideally, adults should get around seven to nine hours of sleep each night. When you fail to get enough sleep, the level of cortisol (stress hormone) will increase and cause you to eat foods high in sugar. With such thoughts, it will be more difficult to get rid of belly fat when you maintain this sleep deprivation habit.
To maintain normal levels of the stress hormone cortisol, try to get a good night's sleep every night. In this way, you can balance cortisol levels while increasing the production of leptin (a hormone that can control your appetite).
4. Use large plates every time you eat
Whether it's a buffet or a normal dinner at home, pay attention to the size of your plate every time you eat. In a survey conducted between obese people, it was found that they had the largest plate between small and medium plates. With the size of a large plate, they have more room to put their food.
So, how can this be the cause of a distended stomach? The answer is simple. If you have large space to stack your food, then you tend to consume more than your body needs. This leads to accumulation of fat in the body. Therefore, choose smaller dishes to hold your appetite.
5. Smoking
Smoking can help reduce weight, but it can also be a cause of a distended stomach. Many people who survive with smoking for reasons of fear of having a fat body, in fact research has revealed that instead of a thin body even distended stomach obtained by smokers. Scientists from the University of Glasgow found that smoking may be associated with lower overall weight, but it tends to push fat towards the core area of the body, which results in the stomach becoming bigger.
