Our body has done a lot of work well. Exposure from the environment and from what we consume indirectly can harm our own bodies. Fortunately, the body has a drainage system specifically designed to detoxify or remove toxins in the body, such as those found in liver, kidney, skin, large intestine and lung functions.

However, sometimes the body may need to take a break from its heavy and heavy work. In addition, you might also want to feel a fresher and lighter body. Well, for that, maybe you need to do detoxification to help the body rest.

What is detox?

Detoxification or detox is a way to cleanse the body of poisons. The detoxification diet requires that you do certain things within a certain period of time that aim to cleanse the body of environmental toxins and food in the body.

Detoxification can be done in various ways. Some do it by only consuming fruit and vegetable juices, and some do it in an easier way, such as avoiding eating foods containing sugar, salt, caffeine, and alcohol.

Those of you who usually eat unhealthy foods may feel better after doing this detoxification. Your body will feel like it's improved, younger, and more energized. Maybe by doing this detoxification, you will also lose a few kilograms of your weight. However, if you have lost weight and are in the normal range, you should maintain it while adopting a healthy lifestyle.

How to detox?

A healthy detoxification diet can be done by not eating certain foods, increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables, not consuming alcoholic drinks and cefein, drinking lots of water, and this is done within a certain period of time, usually around 7 days.

There are 7 stages of healthy detoxification, namely:

1. Take lemon water every morning

Start the day by consuming water added with lemon juice. Vitamin C contained in lemon juice can increase glutathione levels in the body, which is an important compound needed for detoxification in the day. Water with lemon can help cleanse the day of toxins that accumulate in it and can also reduce blockages in the gallbladder. This helps maintain the health of the liver and gallbladder. The health of these two organs is the key to fat digestion.

2. Calm your heart and mind

At least take 10 minutes to calm yourself down. The heart and calm mind can help the body in detoxifying. Taking a deep breath can help the lungs get oxygen and release carbon dioxide better. This can also help accelerate the body's metabolism, so that the food you consume can be digested properly.

3. Do sports

During detoxification, it's better to take your time at least one hour every day to do sports. Sweat that comes out during exercise can help you get rid of toxins in the body. Exercise can also help smooth the flow of lymph in the body, thus helping the body release toxins through sweat.

4. Avoid processed foods

At least do it for 7 days, "holidays" from processed foods and packaged foods that tend to be nutrient-poor and rich in fat, salt, sugar, and preservatives. Also avoid packaging drinks, such as sodas and sugary drinks in packs, you should replace them with water, low-fat milk, or herbal tea. You can eat fresh food, such as fresh meat, fresh fish, fruit and vegetables.

5. Stop drinking coffee for a while

The more you consume coffee, the more pressure you put on the adrenal gland, which helps control metabolism and blood pressure. In addition, caffeine in coffee can interfere with drug metabolism in the liver and also natural detoxification that takes place in the liver. Preferably, stop the habit of drinking your coffee for a while during the detoxification process.

6. Fill your half plate with fruit and vegetables

Eating lots of fruits and vegetables that contain fiber can help your body get rid of toxins, accelerate your digestive system, and in addition also provide vitamins and minerals that your body needs. In addition, fiber in fruits and vegetables can also help you reduce the risk of heart disease, colorectal cancer, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. During this detoxification process, you are advised to consume up to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Fill your plate especially with green leafy vegetables, such as broccoli, spinach, cabbage, kale, bokcoy, and others, and onions and garlic. These ingredients can help the body remove toxins that accumulate in the liver. Don't forget to add fruit, such as apples, pears, papaya, oranges, melons and more.

7. Stay away from alcoholic beverages

Alcohol is difficult to digest in your body. Alcohol consumption can put a greater burden on the body, especially in the brain and liver. The liver is an organ that breaks alcohol so it can be removed from the body. Therefore, excessive alcohol consumption can damage the liver. Do not consume alcohol, which means you help relieve liver function and maintain healthy liver, where the liver is an organ in charge of doing natural detoxification in the body.

However, what should be underlined when you go on a detox diet is that you must still meet your nutritional needs, which consist of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Do not let this diet actually bring a negative impact on your health.
