Medical Video: 30 COOL KITCHEN TIPS AND TRICKS

My friends have all got their first period. When? This question often haunts girls who are still waiting for the big day to arrive. Most of the other teenage girls also often feel anxious about the arrival of menstruation, especially for those whose menstrual cycles are still not regular from time to time.

This nervousness turns to panic when the first menstruation suddenly arrives at school. The "translucent" skirt definitely feels embarrassing and makes it uncomfortable. Especially if found out by classmates. In fact, we can be on guard, you know!

How to prepare yourself

In order not to panic during sudden menstruation, always prepare backup equipment. Store 1-2 pads in your wallet, school bag or desk drawer. Bandages are made of liquid absorbent material that will stick to your underwear. The bandage will absorb the blood and hold it so it doesn't leak out.

Another option is tampons. Tampons are cylindrical liquid absorbent devices that are inserted into the vagina. Using a tampon will make you more comfortable exercising or swimming. Even so, the use of tampons during menstruation among Indonesian women is indeed unusual for reasons of practicality.

If you haven't got your period yet, discuss it with an adult who can help you get a "first aid" kit, with a mother, sister, or anyone you feel comfortable talking about. Explain that you want to feel ready when menstruation finally comes over.

Also talk to your doctor during a routine monthly check. Only by doing a brief examination and observing how far you have developed, your doctor can tell you a rough estimate of when you will get your first period.

"The red" comes when you are at school? Well, you know!

Not all women are ready to face menstruation. However, don't worry because sudden menstruation is common even in adult women. If you are in school and menstruation suddenly comes when you have no preparation, what should you do?

Go to the school clinic (UKS). If there are no nurses, contact the BP teacher. Or, you can ask for help from a teacher who you feel comfortable talking to. They can help you get the equipment needed. No need to be embarrassed, just tell the truth that you just got your first menstruation and you don't bring back pads or clothing. If you feel uncomfortable talking to a male teacher, ask for help to call a female teacher.

After you get sanitary napkins at school, you might want to call your parents to tell them what happened, if you need a change of clothes, and that you are fine.

No need to be upset during menstruation.

My skirt is "translucent". What to do?

It is very rare for the first menstruation to bleed very much, so you will more easily overcome the leak before spreading everywhere. However, if your clothes are stained with blood during menstruation, visit a school clinic or BP teacher. Instead of worrying all day worrying that other people will see 'weird' stains on your clothes, it's better to ask the teacher to get a change of clothes available at the school clinic or call your parents to bring them from home.

If other friends notice stains in your uniform skirt, don't panic. Just say if you spill food or drinks and need to change clothes.

Even though menstruation at school makes you anxious and uncomfortable, always remember that close friends or teachers can help you. Over time, you will form a habit to always carry sanitary napkins and spare clothes during menstruation. Adequate preparation will make it easier for you to deal with menstruation.
