Diligent breakfast will not only help you be more powerful to carry out activities. For couples who are difficult to have a baby, breakfast turns out to help increase the fertility of women - especially those who have polycystic ovary syndrome aka PCOS. How come?

Polycystic ovary syndrome causes infertile women

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormone balance disorder that makes it difficult for women to have children. Many women with PCOS have abnormal insulin levels.

Insulin is a hormone that acts to help absorb sugar in the body and keep blood sugar levels in balance. If insulin in the body cannot work properly, in the sense that the body's response to insulin decreases, blood sugar levels will increase. When blood sugar continues to rise uncontrollably, this causes testosterone levels to increase which disrupts the menstrual cycle. High sugar levels that are allowed to continue can also cause heart disease and diabetes if left untreated.

Reducing insulin resistance by way of a diet to lose weight can improve fertility. However, this is not the right choice for women with thin skinny PCOS. They actually have to be more diligent about breakfast.

Breakfast every morning helps increase the fertility of women with PCOS

Reporting from the NHS Choices, a study conducted by a joint team from the Sackelr Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, the Institute of Biochemistry, and Food Science Nutrition at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, reported that developing a habit of diligent breakfast can help increase the fertility of women who have PCOS.

This finding was concluded after observing 60 women with PCOS who were thin but healthy. They were divided into two groups with a total food intake of 1,800 calories. The first group used 980 calories at breakfast, 640 calories for lunch, and 190 calories for dinner, while the second group did the opposite.

As a result, the first group experienced a decrease in testosterone by 50% and their reproductive hormones soared to 105 percent in 12 weeks. This causes them to ovulate normally at the end of the study period. While the second group actually experienced a smaller increase in testosterone, only by 20 percent.

Reporting from Women 's Health, Oren Froy, Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem said that breakfast can lose weight, speed up metabolism more strongly, and improve insulin sensitivity for the better. These three things ultimately affect the reduction in the production of the hormone testosterone in the body. In addition, breakfast time is part of a diet schedule that affects the body's biological clock so that hormone production becomes better.

Actually increasing women's fertility is not only with breakfast habits

Many health benefits are obtained from breakfast habits in the morning. However, it should be noted that the results of this breakfast habit will be in line with research if you improve the amount of calorie intake at breakfast, the routines done, and the best choice of food for the body. Expand to consume foods high in fiber, such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds at breakfast.

Increasing women's fertility is also influenced by other healthy lifestyle factors, such as getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, avoiding / quitting smoking, and avoiding / stopping drinking alcoholic beverages.

If you have PCOS, you should consult your doctor first to get a healthy diet and lifestyle recommendation according to your health condition.
