Skin diseases that often attack Indonesian people
1. Panu
Panu is a skin disease that is often found in tropical countries like Indonesia. Diseases in the medical world are known by names tinea versicolor or pityriasis versicolor this is a skin disease caused by fungi. The cause of this phlegm is mushrooms malassezia furfur or pityrosporum ovale.
This fungus can occur due to poor hygiene, or through transmission from other people. Even though it can affect any skin, phlegm usually appears most often on the back, chest, neck and upper arms.
2. Ringworm or ringworm
Ringworm is a fungal infection of the skin. Ringworm can be transmitted through direct contact with infected skin or contaminated objects, such as animals, towels, blankets, clothing, beds, and others. Ringworm on the scalp can cause hair loss and even baldness.
3. Scabies
Scabies is an infection of the skin caused by mites, namely small insects from the spider's family. Mites can move because of direct contact with an infected person. Mites can live only a few days in the body and cannot jump or fly. The signs of scabies are the appearance of a rash and are very itchy, usually at night. In children, a rash usually appears on the head, neck, palms, soles of the feet, and between fingers.
4. Yaws, which also causes syphilis
Frambusia or commonly known as patek, is a skin disease caused by bacteria that is transmitted through direct contact. This disease is found mostly in the eastern region of Indonesia. Disease is a chronic infection that attacks the skin, bones and cartilage. The cause is bacteria treponema pallidum, which also causes syphilis.
But yaws do not attack the genitals as syphilis. This disease is found in tropical countries that cause bumps and sores on this skin. Since the 1990s until now, this disease has only been found in several tropical countries including Indonesia.
5. Acne
Acne, also called acne vulgaris, is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles are blocked with dead skin and oil which causes inflammation. Acne can be a mild red nodule to painful cystic acne. Acne is usually found on the face, shoulders, back and chest. Acne can cause emotional stress and can leave 'pockmarked' or blackened skin color.
6. Pediculosis or head lice
Hair skin infections in humans are also usually referred to as pediculosis capitis. Head lice are usually parasitic, because they make human blood as food. Pediculosis is also very contagious and can cause excessive itching in the hair. Generally, these head lice attack children, but not infrequently also if adults or even furry animals can contract.
7. Eczema
Eczema, known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic skin condition that causes itching and then disappears for some time. Eczema makes the skin become inflamed, itchy, dry and cracked. The dry part of the skin can appear on the scalp, forehead and face.
This disease is common, and often attacks children to the elderly. The cause of eczema has not been identified. But researchers believe some triggers can cause eczema. People with allergies can have atopic eczema, like people with food allergies or asthma.
