1. Avoid foods that trigger allergic reactions
Food is indeed not the cause of scurvy. So, you can actually eat any food, as long as it doesn't cause an allergic reaction. Generally, allergic reactions will cause severe itching in the skin that has scabies. For this reason, you may need to avoid some common allergy-triggering foods that can improve the symptoms of scabies itching, among others:
- Milk and dairy products like cheese and butter
- Nuts
- Egg
- Seafood such as shellfish, shrimp, fish and others
- Foods high in sugar
- Fatty food
2. Avoid foods that affect the immune system
The risk of scabies will increase if your immune system decreases. Your immune system is responsible for maintaining the body from pathogenic organisms, including mange mites.
When the body recognizes a danger, the immune system will respond by releasing white blood cells and other chemical compounds into the blood to protect threatened cells and tissues.
Avoid consuming foods that can disrupt your immune system such as foods that are rich in saturated fats, including consuming too much salt and sugar.
To maintain this immune function, you should eat nutritious foods. Expand the consumption of fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins C and E.
3. Avoid scratching the itchy skin
Scratching the itchy part of the body will certainly give satisfaction when itching attacks. However, scratching will cause new problems, namely the skin can be irritated.
Scratching the itchy part of the body only becomes a temporary "drug", and does not help the healing process at all. Precisely scratching will make a new scratch on the skin which will make it more itchy.
Therefore, you should avoid scratching the skin. The scratches that appear when you scratch can open a gap for bacteria to enter, an infection occurs. The entry of new bacteria on this skin becomes the forerunner of complications of itching that can get worse.
4. Always take medication as instructed by the doctor
Scabies can be treated with special creams or lotions given by the doctor. These treatment products contain permethrin or other ingredients. In severe cases, doctors can also give pills.
Some scabies are not safe for children, the elderly, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. To prevent dangerous side effects, be sure to follow the doctor's instructions correctly.
Always consult with your doctor about the medication you are taking. Ask your doctor whether the medication you are taking can be taken together with scabies.
