Medical Video: Expiration Date

Lately, there have been cases of fake vaccines that have occurred in several hospitals and midwives. This is a very evil crime. An innocent child becomes a victim. Mothers bring their children to hospitals or midwives to get vaccines in the hope that their children will avoid illness, but instead there are certain people who use them to get material.

This case has now been followed up and special handling has been given by the government. Even the Ministry of Health immediately formed a special task force aimed at overcoming this case. This special task force consists of the Ministry of Health, BPOM, National Police Bareskrim, and IDAI.

This case certainly adds to the concerns of mothers regarding the health of their children. How not, giving vaccines aimed at preventing children from various infectious diseases is even misused. To cope with this case, the Ministry of Health has started giving vaccinations to children who yesterday received fake vaccines. For those of you who took their children yesterday to get a vaccine, let's try to keep in mind what vaccines are given, and make sure the place that provides vaccines to your child is not one of the places affected by a fake vaccine case.

What should be done if the child gets a fake vaccine?

Following up on the fake vaccine case, the Ministry of Health quickly re-vaccinated the children who had been given fake vaccines. There are two types of vaccines given for re-vaccination, namely the pentavalent vaccine which can prevent five types of diseases (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, and haemophilus influenza type B) and oral polio vaccines to prevent polio in children.

The second administration of this vaccine is based on the finding that the types of fake vaccines in circulation are pediacel and tripacel. Pediacel is a combination of several types of vaccines to prevent diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus or commonly abbreviated as DPT; polio; and HiB (haemophilus influenza type B). While tripacel contains DPT vaccine. Both types of vaccines are imported vaccines.

It doesn't matter if the child is given a vaccine again, this is actually needed. Reporting from BBC Indonesia, Dr. Dirga Sakti Rambe, a doctor in the field of vaccinology, explained that children suspected of getting fake vaccines need to be re-vaccinated because it was suspected that he had not received the vaccine he was supposed to get.

Besides that, it doesn't matter if the child is given a vaccine many times, the child's body is able to handle it properly. Children have a very large ability to respond to vaccines safely so that a strong immune system is formed.

An important vaccine is given to children to prevent various infectious diseases. Vaccines work by entering certain bacterial or viral antigens that have been weakened or turned off so that they can stimulate the immune system to recognize the antigen and then form antibodies to increase the child's immunity. So that the opportunity for children to get infectious diseases that can be prevented by vaccines decreases.

How do you detect fake vaccines?

For the future, there is nothing wrong if you as a mother pay attention to the vaccine that will be given to the child. Cheaper vaccines may be suspect. Every fake item must have a gap with the original, it cannot be exact. Likewise with fake vaccines, even though it is difficult to find differences with the naked eye, but the difference can certainly be found.

Quoted from The Jakarta Post, Drajat Alamsyah, Domestic Sales Head of PT Bio Farma said that fake vaccines can be seen from the quality of the packaging that is not good, the production code printed on the packaging is printed blurry or unclear, and the color difference in the rubber retaining.

Reporting from Mother and Baby, Dr. Dirga again explained the other signs of fake vaccines, namely the expiration date and the production code on the packaging that was different from the contents, the fake vaccine fluid was rather turbid in contrast to the original vaccine which was clear in color, and had a defective cover or broken seal.

In addition to the visual method as above, fake vaccines must have a content that is not the same as the original vaccine. By carrying out laboratory tests, it must be found more accurately that fake vaccines have a content and level that is not the same as that of the original vaccine.
