Based on research, women with less BMI and too thin bodies have a more significant risk of developing early menopause compared to women with normal weight. In addition, women with a history of excessive weight loss also have a risk of menopause twice as fast as those who don't.
Why is that?
The researcher explained that there are several possibilities that can trigger early menopause. The first, the body is too thin or BMI is less able to trigger a disruption of hormone balance in the brain. As a result, there is a decrease in estrogen levels and an increased risk of infertility. In addition, low weight can increase the levels of the hormone cortisol, which is one of the hormones that affect when stressed.
The second possibility is excessive stress which eventually triggers early menopause. However, as explained earlier, less weight can also trigger stress due to an increase in the hormone cortisol. So, excessive stress itself can actually be affected by your weight.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the body is too thin can trigger several bodily abnormalities, one of which is early menopause.
