Medical Video: What happens when you do NOT have SEXUAL RELATIONS in a week?

Most people will experience first sex, sooner or later. But there are many people who are either from their own choice or because they don't get the chance, live all their lives without ever getting married and never having sex at all. This is also common in a number of religious leaders who swear celibacy for life. However, sex has an impact on the body, so people who have never had sex may experience the following things.

What happens to the body of people who have never had sex

1. More often sick

According to Dr. Cory B. Honickman, our immune system will get weaker if we don't have sex. If you want to avoid fever and flu, having sex regularly can help. Researchers at Wilkes-Barre University in Pennsylvania found that people who have sex once or twice a week can have an increase in immunoglobulin A (one of the body's defenses against viruses), as much as 30% compared to those who don't or rarely have sex.

2. It's easier to stress

Sex helps someone to get out of the heart. Scottish researchers found that people who stopped having sex were more difficult to deal with stressful situations, such as public speaking, compared with those who had sex at least once during a two-week period. During sex, the brain will release pleasure hormones, such as endorphins and oxytocin, which can help you feel more comfortable.

3. More at risk for prostate cancer

People who stop sex may lose prostate protection. According to a study presented at the American Urological Association, a man who regularly has sex can reduce the risk of prostate cancer by as much as 20%. In addition, ejaculation can often remove harmful substances from the prostate.

4. More at risk for erectile dysfunction

Men who rarely have sex have twice the chance of developing erectile dysfunction, than men who do it once a week or more, according to a study published in the American Journal of Medicine. Researchers state that, because the penis is a muscle, having sex can help preserve potential in the same way as physical exercise helps increase strength.

5. Tend to feel unhappy

Women often feel more stressed when they don't have sex, according to studies in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior. But that is not because of the lack of sexual activity they get. Researchers say that some of the compounds found in semen, including melatonin, serotonin, and oxytocin, have benefits in improving mood for women who have unprotected sex. However, unprotected sexual intercourse is not recommended, unless you are loyal with only one partner for life.

6. Avoid the possibility of urinary tract infections

Nearly 80% of urinary tract infections occur within 24 hours after sexual intercourse. During sex, bacteria in the vagina can be pushed into the urethra, where it can cause infection. So, on the bright side for women, if you have never had sex, then your risk of experiencing painful urination conditions decreases.
