People say, blood type can affect personality; so it's no wonder that many people associate the attitude of someone with a blood type that they have. But unfortunately, until now there has been no strong evidence to suggest a relationship between blood type and one's personality. On the contrary, there have been many studies that prove the relationship between blood groups and the risk of certain diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, and other diseases associated with immune stress responses.

According to Peter D’Adamo in his book entitled Eat Right for Your Type mentioned that blood is the most basic food for your body; so different types of blood will react differently to the food you eat. Therefore, Peter D'Adamo recommends foods based on blood type such as the following.

Diet for blood type A

Blood type A tends to have a more sensitive immune system, so too much pressure can weaken their immune system faster than other blood groups. They have lower stomach acid levels which tend to be difficult to digest foods containing animal protein and fat.

They are more recommended for consumption of foods containing vegetable proteins such as soybeans, tempeh, peas, seeds, vegetables, and fruits that are alkaline in nature such as avocados, dates, apples, berries, and others. But because blood type A owners tend to be sensitive to lectins, they are not recommended for consumption of potatoes, tubers, and papaya, mango, and oranges that can trigger diabetes.

Diet for blood type B

Blood type B is more flexible than other blood groups, especially A and O because they can eat foods that contain animal or vegetable protein. They are encouraged to increase consumption of red meat, green vegetables, eggs and low-fat dairy products.

However, blood type B owners are not recommended for consumption of chicken, wheat, corn, beans, tomatoes, peanuts and sesame seeds because these foods can affect the body's metabolic processes which can lead to fatigue, fluid retention, and hypoglycemia.

Diet for blood type O

Owners of blood type O tend to have high levels of stomach acid and have the ability to digest protein and fat easily. This digestive factor greatly increases the ability of type O to metabolize cholesterol in animal products more efficiently and assimilate calcium better.

Owners of blood type O are not encouraged to consume milk and processed foods often because the product is difficult for the body to digest. Because they tend to be allergic to gluten, they are not recommended for consumption of cabbage, cauliflower, and wheat which can inhibit thyroid hormones and adversely affect insulin which can inhibit the body's metabolic system.

Healthy diet based on blood type O are alkaline fruits such as avocados, apples, dates, garlic, carrots, celery, and beef, lamb, turkey, chicken, eggs, nuts, and seeds, and seafood because it can increase hormone production.

Diet for blood type AB

Just like blood type A, people with type blood type AB have low stomach acid so they are not recommended to eat meat because the digestive system is difficult to receive these foods. They are also not recommended to consume caffeine and alcohol especially when they are stressed. The recommended foods to consume are tofu, milk, green vegetables, and seafood which are the best sources of protein such as salmon, sardines, tuna, and red snapper.

Is this diet based on blood type effective?

The diet is made by Peter D'Adamo to help you lose weight or diet according to blood type. But unfortunately, a study in 2013 stated that there is no strong evidence to support the benefits of a diet based on blood type.

On a blood type diet, you will avoid some processed foods and simple carbohydrates that might help you lose weight; it's just that, this has nothing to do with blood type. Even now there are no studies that prove that blood type diets can help digestion and provide more energy.

American Diabetes Association it warns you that you don't need to focus on certain foods and it is not recommended to avoid certain food groups unless you are allergic or have restrictions on these foods.

However, if this blood type diet makes you interested, all you need to remember is that this diet is prepared as an alternative recommendation for weight loss, not as an effort to limit food based on your blood type.
