Once you lie, you must prepare the next lie. The statement turned out to be not just advice or teachings from your parents, but also can be explained in science. When people lie, they become addicted to their lies. Maybe not just one or two lies that came out of his mouth, but more than that.

Then what causes people to lie when viewed from psychology? And what makes the lie addictive?

What are the reasons people lie?

When you are in a tightened state, people usually start lying to get a profit or just save themselves from the worst conditions. When thinking of lying, then in the mind of the person immediately crossed various questions, such as "what will I get from a lie? Or does this lie have a negative impact on me? And how many problems or benefits can I get ". These various thoughts are the trigger why someone is lying.

Actually, many other reasons are recognized by most people as the reason for lying, such as not wanting to hurt the person who is loved, wanting to control the situation, to take advantage of himself. In fact, all of these reasons are not necessary for them to do. Whatever the reason, truth is the best fact to hear. After all, you have to be careful if you have ever lied, surely you will be addicted to lying again. Why?

Then why do people lie so many times?

The study, published in the journal Nature Neuroscience, proves for itself how people are lying just not once. in this study, experts saw and analyzed the brains of someone who was lying. The study, which only invited 80 volunteers, made several scenarios and tested the level of lies of each participant. Then, what did the research find?

Experts say that the habit of lying depends on the response of the brain of an individual. So this way, when someone is lying, the most active and working part of the brain is the amygdala. The amygdala is an area of the brain that plays an important role in regulating one's emotions, behavior, and motivation.

When people lie for the first time, the amygdala will reject the behavior you are doing by causing an emotional response. This emotional response can be a fear that arises when speaking lies. But when nothing bad happens - even though it has been told lies - the amygdala will accept the behavior and then no longer emit an emotional response, which can actually prevent you from lying for the third time.

Actually, your brain fights when lying, but then begins to adapt

You could say if everyone would have lied, including you. lies are actually very natural for humans. But unfortunately, you don't have that ability - at first. Yes, when you lie, your various bodily functions must change, such as a faster heartbeat, more sweating, even trembling.

This means that your brain responds to the lie you said earlier. You feel afraid to be discovered and eventually become bad for you. it makes your brain fight back and finally there are various changes in body functions. But if you do it many times - especially when the first lie works - then the brain actually adapts to the lies you do.

The brain thinks that it doesn't matter if you lie once, so the brain will adapt and over time there will be no change in body function when you lie. In addition, this indicates that your emotional response to lies is diminishing, so there is an end, you will continue to tell lies.
