Full cream

Full cream milk feels more creamy and better than low-fat milk. This is because the fat content in full cream milk is 3.5% and contains 5 grams of saturated fat per glass. This amount is sufficient for 20% of your daily fat requirements. Although saturated fat does not always have a negative effect on health if the amount is controlled, the calories produced are also worth considering. One glass of full cream milk contains approximately 150 calories, almost twice as large as skim milk. If you are in the process of losing weight, full cream milk is not the right choice for you.

In addition, according to the Harvard School of Public Health, in cow's milk there are hormones related to pregnancy originating from the cow itself. This type of milk contains approximately 1-2% fat, smaller than full cream which reaches 3.5%. Because the amount of milk fat does not disappear significantly, there are still fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamin A and vitamin D, although the amount may not be as much as in full cream milk.

Skim milk

This type of milk has a number of fats ranging from 0-0.5%. Skim milk contains a little more calcium than it does whole milk but the fat-soluble vitamin content is reduced because it is lost when the fat from skim milk is removed. Because of the smaller fat content, calories in skim milk are smaller than full cream milk.

Skim milk is not recommended for consumption by children under 5 years old because at that age children still need energy to support the growth period. However, this milk is suitable for those of you who are on a diet, one glass of skim milk contains 80-90 calories. All you have to consider before choosing milk that tends to be low in fat is sugar content. Because skimmed milk is thinner and not textured creamy, then adding sugar is usually done to add to the taste of the milk.

Sweetened condensed milk

It is a type of milk that is thick and has added sweeteners. This thick texture is obtained from the process of heating milk at high temperatures until 60% of the water content is lost. After that sugar will be added so that it creates a slightly brownish color and a very sweet taste. Sweetened condensed milk is usually packaged in the form of cans to increase storage capacity and contain as much as 45-45% sugar content per can. Sweetened condensed milk is usually used for making cakes, pudding, and is a sweetener for coffee and tea.

Because of its high sugar content, sweetened condensed milk is not recommended for those who suffer from diabetes, are in the process of losing weight, or have dental problems.

UHT milk

The type of UHT milk refers to the sterilization process. Milk will be heated to a temperature of 135ºC, aiming to kill harmful microorganisms that may be present in milk. After that, the milk is packaged into sterile (usually cardboard) packages. Because it has been heated at high temperatures, UHT milk usually has a longer shelf life.
