Medical Video: Don't Ignore These Early Symptoms of Autism in Your Infants
When the baby is born, the first cry will mark his freedom. During the first week, there are changes that the baby experiences to adapt to life. At the same time, the endurance of early childhood is so weak that he will be susceptible to several diseases.
Some common conditions that are often found in newborns:
1. Jaundice (yellow)
During the postpartum period, the newborn releases bile pigments which cause yellowing of the skin. Jaundice (yellow jakit) occurs on days 4-5 after birth and ends on days 9-10. For premature babies, jaundice will last longer. Physiological jaundice in the neonate is still normal and does not cause interference with the child's growth.
2. Weight loss
This occurs 3-4 days after birth and the cause is environmental changes. After 2 weeks of intensive care and breastfeeding, the baby will get his original weight and the weight will begin to increase over time.
3. Sneezing and stuffy nose
This is caused by irritation, such as when a child breathes cigarette smoke, dust (avoid placing a fan in a child's room because the fan easily spreads dust from one place to another), and dry air.
To prevent sneezing and nasal congestion in children, avoid irritation (animal hair, cigarette smoke, dust), use a humidifier indoors, use nasal sprays or nasal irritants. Nasal drops are 0.9% sodium chloride solution and nose suction devices for children who use rubber balls sterilized with boiling water.
4. Hiccups
In infants and adults, there are many ways to deal with hiccups. However, mothers should not apply extreme methods to newborns as adults. Hiccups in babies will disappear naturally without the need to worry too much. If the baby's hiccups last long, about 5-10 minutes, the mother can pump milk into the spoon, and feeding a few spoons of breast milk or water can reduce the possibility of the baby feeding too quickly.
5. Respiratory infections
This is caused by viruses or bacteria and is very common in infants. This disease lasts for one or two weeks with a runny nose, fever, and does not suckle for several days, which can last around 2-3 weeks. More serious symptoms require doctor's care. Therefore, it is important for children to immediately see a doctor.
Newborns breathe through the lungs and their abdominal breathing styles are different from adults, with mild apnea (a non-breathing condition) that occasionally occurs due to an unresponsive breathing center. The average increase in heart rate is 130 beats per minute. Red blood cells in infants increase and then decrease. In addition, the age of these blood cells is shorter to adjust the state of independent living from the previous stage in the mother's womb.
Because the young body is prone to hypothermia, it is important to always warm the baby. The baby's digestive system can start digesting immediately after birth, and it is important to breastfeed the baby right after birth.
