Medical Video: 8 Health Benefits of Cheese
When you try to lose weight or maybe maintain a healthy diet, maybe cheese is one of the foods that are included in the list of foods that you will avoid. In fact, cheese is often enjoyed togetherpizza, boiled noodles, fried rice, and a large number of pastries and sweet foods. Just imagining those foods, has scared you to count the total calories. But did you know that eating cheese can also benefit health? Here are some benefits of eating cheese.
The benefits of eating cheese for our bodies
Cheese is a solid form (coagulation process) of milk. Over time, the shape, taste, texture and presentation of cheese are increasingly diverse. Cheese does contain fat, sodium and high calories. Even so, the current range of creativity in serving cheese does not necessarily reduce the benefits of eating cheese for health.
1. Healthy teeth
A study conducted by Doctor Ravishankar Telgi for 68 participants aged 12 to 15 years, revealed that cheese has the ability to protect teeth from tooth decay. The participants were people who were randomly selected and did not have a disturbance in their teeth.
At first the participants were asked not to eat and drink anything for 48 hours before the study, in order not to interfere with plaque activity in the mouth. The participants were then divided into groups that would chew the same food for the next 3 minutes. Within 3 minutes, 4 times in different times the researchers will measure the acidity (pH) of the plaque produced.
The food provided is dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, and milk. The results of the last measurement revealed that the pH of the participants' plaque given the cheese continued to increase compared to the other food pH. The higher the pH of a person's plaque, the smaller the potential for cavities and other dental disorders.
Cheese is believed to have an ingredient that can protect teeth from bacterial activity which can cause cavities (anticariogenic).
2. Prevent insulin resistance
Research conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health reveals that milk-based foods, including cheese, contain natural substances that are predicted to help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, a fatty acid known astrans-palmitoleic acid.
From the observational study they conducted, information was obtained that consuming fatty acids could prevent insulin resistance, a condition in which the insulin hormone secreted by the pancreas does not work properly to digest carbohydrates. But still need further research to convince these findings.
3. Increase the content of good cholesterol in the body
Maybe it has become a common insight that cheese is a dairy product that is rich in fat. But the fat does not necessarily increase the body's bad cholesterol. Research conducted by Farinaz Raziani to 139 adults has revealed that consuming cheese with high content for 12 weeks does not necessarily increase the content of bad cholesterol in your body. Even your good fat content continues to increase.
But still, something excessive is not good. You will enjoy the benefits of eating cheese in health, of course if you enjoy it in an appropriate amount.
