Development of 28-week-old babies

How should my 28-week baby develop?

At this stage of development of a baby 28 weeks, children tend to be attracted to puppets shaped like other animals or toys. Playing with stuffed animals is the beginning of the growth of the baby's independence.

In other words, children are learning to separate themselves from you and slowly become more independent. If you want to add a new member to the family in the form of a teddy bear, look for dolls made from soft and not many stitches, buttons or balls on the doll

Babies may also play with ball dolls or with large dolls. One way to find out if a child has a favorite toy is to try to take it. If they protest loudly, then maybe it's their favorite toy.

In the age of 28 weeks of development, most children will be able to:

  • Become stronger as well crawl
  • Can stand from a sitting position
  • Change from crawling to sitting posture
  • Take small objects with other thumbs and fingers (keep away from children)
  • Say "mama" or "chest"

What should I do with my baby?

At the stage of development of the baby 28 weeks, your child is likely to be able to hold the weight on his feet and begin to love dancing, this can strengthen the muscles for later moving. Hold the baby's lower arms and elbows and help the baby stand on your floor or lap.

You may have to help the baby start moving by lifting it to the floor or to your thigh. To encourage a baby's 28-week development more optimally, test by putting the toy away from the baby's reach and observing how he tries to get it.

If he cries because he can't get what he wants, keep pushing him instead of giving it away. Babies cry to vent their frustration and will quickly become more confident if they can do it themselves.

After making several attempts, the baby will be able to advance to reach the toy and return to its original position. Then, he will crawl back and forth with his knees and hands (or push to move with his stomach) or even roll over. You can help your baby move more easily by wearing loose and comfortable clothes.

What do I need to discuss with the doctor?

At the age of 28 weeks of development, later doctors will conduct a physical test as a whole, using different diagnostic techniques and implementation procedures. The doctor or nurse will check all or some of the following:

  • Measure the concentration of hemoglobin or hematocrit to check anemia (usually with a needle on the finger), especially for babies who are underweight.
  • Provide guidance on what will happen next month related to food, sleep, development and infant safety.

What should I know?

There are a number of things you know about 28 weeks of development:

1. Vegetarian menu for babies

At the age of 28 baby development this week. the baby's body may be able to absorb all the vitamins, minerals, proteins from vegetable foods that are balanced nutrition. 6-month-old babies can get additional nutrients from breast milk or formula milk and solid foods such as cereals, softened fruit, juices and vegetables.

Foods with balanced nutrition are very important for children. Babies will need protein to improve their ability to develop and recover wounds. So, with a meatless diet, you will have to find a replacement food. If you want to give vegetarian food, remember that vegetarians are usually iron deficient, so make sure that there are iron-rich foods such as whole wheat and spinach-like green vegetables in the baby's vegetarian menu. Make sure your baby has enough vitamins B12 and D, riboflavin, calcium, and zinc through daily food.

Meat and chicken substitutes suitable for babies as solid foods include cheese, tofu, nuts (cooked and finely ground), whole grains, and (nutritious bread, pasta, rice and cereal), yogurt and cheese.

2. Salt diet

As with adults, babies also need salt. However, babies do not need too much salt. In fact, the baby's kidneys cannot digest it well if it's too much, maybe the reason babies need breast milk, drinks that are very low in sodium. A salt-rich diet can create a child's salt-eating habits throughout his life.

Do not rush to conclude that food will not make the baby interested if it is not sprinkled with salt. Give your baby taste the opportunity to find a type of food without salt and it is likely that he will be fit to eat healthy foods low in salt throughout his life.

To determine whether he eats enough salt, read food labels regularly. Products such as bread and breakfast cereals, cakes and biscuits can contain a lot of sodium. When buying baby food, make sure you always choose foods less than 50 mg of salt per serving.

3. Give vitamins or supplements

When a baby is 6 months old, babies need more iron supplements. Fortunately, some grain foods such as wheat cereals are used as a source of iron substitutes. Consult your doctor about which iron supplements are suitable for children.

What should I pay attention to?

Below are some things you might need to pay attention to in a 28-week baby's development:

Find the right shoes for babies

In this phase of development, the baby still has to be barefoot. However, there is no harm in putting shoes on a baby on certain occasions - as long as the shoe is suitable for him. Shoes for babies should be light, made of comfortable material (leather or cotton, not plastic), with flexible shoe soles so you can feel the baby's feet inside.
